The end of Toaster Era... got a gaming PC!

6 August 2016.. one of the best days of this year so far :D I'll mark this day in my agenda, diary etc. etc. as the day of 'The end of Toaster Era 2012 - 2016"
9 months of asking, building, researching, blood, sweat and tears, I've got myself a gaming pc (tho my parents are highly-very-extremely opposed of me gaming, so I convinced my dad that I needed a new pc for school, if it's for school they agree without thinking twice, thank God they can't read English and won't read this blog :x )
So a little back story, once upon a time (October 2015) I was playing League, when in-game my FPS dropped from 30 FPS (seriously, this was already a luxury) to, I kid you not, 2 FPS.. 2!!! What the fudge man.. So I was like, hah, must just be this game, pc got a little warm tho. But other than that, didn't think much of it.
So right after that horrendous loss, I got right back in another game. AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. So le tilted me, slapped my pc a couple of times. After that, it never got better. Tried re-installing graphic drivers, blowing the dust out, nothin' worked. Worst of all, I was halfway in my placement matches, so I asked to borrow a equally-but-a-bit-better-toaster-laptop from my bro. Finished placements which I already detailedly wrote about in a previous post last year.
So I've been using the toaster laptop for a year, until that one kinda blew up too. Like, it was overheating to the point it shuts itself down. In the beginning I got a solid 60 FPS, but that one too, dropped to 10-30FPS after 10 mins in-game.
That was the point where I though, 'aight, if I want to be able to play any games at all (and yes, that includes minesweeper) I really got to get myself a gaming pc. But.. what, where, how? where do I start? that wasn't even the only concern, my parents would not allow me, I don't know anything about pc specs, if mom happens to find out, she's gonna limit my wi-fi access by 2 hours a day, or none at all. So I was really fudging hopeless at that time. Not to mention, it took my depression to another level. I really wanted to have fun with friends without the unneccessary bullshit, guess that was too much to ask for..
So in the months after october that year, I took matters in my own hands and did research to pc specs, what's a decent one for an affordable -budget- price. When finding some on Amazon, I showed my bro who was more knowledgeable about specs. He said along the lines of..
What the fuk why you wanna buy this junk, you better just pick some up from the dump with equal specs. With drooping shoulders in disappointment, I continued my research. But my brother told me he'd ask his friend who can build pc's. So a little hopeful I agreed, and stopped looking after jotting some pc specs down.
Months later, without any mentioning.. still no pc..
Fast forward to the present, July/August '16. I asked my dad if I can get a new pc for school next month which he agrees. But.. I didn't have a definite pc I wanted to purchase, looking back at the pc's I've been hesitating to buy and with more knowledge.. holy shit, I made awful choices. Good thing I took opinions of others in consideration before actually buying one of those (too expensive for the specs) junk.
But that meant starting from square one once again. Tho, this time didn't take too long. In an hour I found one to my liking, unfortunately the shipping costs were 300 dollars.. 300 DOLLARS WTF I can almost buy a PS4 from that money, or fat myself with burgers for like a year. Hell no, that's almost half the price of the product I wanna buy.
So back to square one it is. That's when instead of looking on worldwide sites, I narrowed it down to Dutch webshops. Found a untrustworthy-cheap-scammy- (is this even a word?) looking site with a gaming pc that was too good (for the $$) to ignore. So did my research again, reviews, googled "Is this site legit", asked my brother who asked his friend, even contacted the helpdesk. When I just decided to yolo buy it. See what happens. And what happened was..
I got a well-packaged, delivered on the promised date with the specs shown on the site gaming pc. What was I even worried about? (ignoring the cheap looking site, example images of the pc spammed with win10, nvidia, SUMMER SALE icons that could be taken straight from google images..)
But couldn't booted it up yet, 'cuz the monitor was, just like the toaster pc dated from 1906. Back to my research, I found a nice BENQ monitor, without much hesitation added to my shopping cart.
So finally, FINALLY I plugged everything together and worked instantly :D So this is the happy en-
Nop, it was not.
Obstacle #1: Needed to make a system back-up but did not have enough space on the dvd nor did I have an external drive and didn't accept my USB.
Obstacle #2: What I thought I would get when plugging wifi adapter in new pc: it works just like the old pc. What I got: 'Wifi adapter not compatible with win10' ... -_- ..dear research, we meet again.
But in the very very end, as of today 10 august 2016, everything works, it's done. The only thing I gotta worry about now is how I'll be able to game with a -monster- mom bugging me every 0.1 seconds and my Osu! account is fkd and the helpdesk hasn't replied yet ;-;
Now before this post gets too long I will end this with the specs and a picture of my final set-up. Wish I had a picture of my old toaster(s) too but never made a picture.
The specs (don't expect some extreme-high-end-4k dollar-rig, if I grew money trees in my backyard I would, but overall it's decent):
- Intel Core i5 6400 2.7Ghz.
- 8GB DDR4
- 1TB HDD
- Nvidia Geforce GTX 960
- 8GB RAM
- Windows 10 Home
