Hola! Haven't posted here in forever. I just remembered a post from 6 August 2016 where I was super excited about my first gaming PC (oh, the good old college days). Well, after almost 6 (!) years it became a toaster. It literally takes 5-10 minutes to start up with a HDD + it's as if an airplane takes off, very loud. So on 26 March 2022 my new gaming PC (which is a hugee upgrade, see specs below) arrived and on March 29 my new 27'' Dell monitor came in. So why not necro this blog with this news :D
This time, I wasn't triggered by my FPS drops because frankly, I don't game as much as I used to. Yet, I still bought the best gaming PC currently on the market. Oh the irony. When I was doing my research, I thought to myself "Do I even need this?" but I did my financial calculations and was like 'I can afford this and I want this so let's go for it!'. I'm extra proud because I bought this from the salary of my very first job post-graduation :D
Six years later and I've got more knowledge about PC specs. I've learnt from my first mistakes (such as not getting a SSD) and knew what I wanted. No more compromises, no more 'mediocre specs'. I won't settle for anything less than the best of the best. Even if it's overkill.
And I guess that's what you get for paying the lottery price. No problems at all. Set-up took 5 minutes and everything runs smoothly. No problems with wifi adapters (got a powerline adapter) nor bluetooth. I even got a free DX Racer gaming chair as part of a promotion/deal from the webshop I purchased it from.
I gotta say, it's entertaining to read how much I struggled 6 years ago. Although I can't say I know everything as of now. I still don't know how to assemble my own pc, watt/electricity usage is a mystery to me just like watercooling and the right airflow for high-end GPUs/CPUs. Let's hope in 6 more years I'm wiser :')
6 years ago I paid my pc with a limited budget and endless time. Now, I pay my pc with plenty of $ opportunities and no time.
